Funkhaus Berlin is one of Europe’s most architecturally distinctive and historic venues.
Originally built in the early 1950s as the headquarters of the "Rundfunk der DDR" (Broadcasting of the German Democratic Republic) until German reunification in 1990, the site was designed to project messages outward, a place of transmission and influence, broadcasting to the world. Funkhaus played a significant role in the GDR’s state messaging and propaganda infrastructure. Today, that same infrastructure has been transformed into the opposite: a space for openness, artistic freedom, and genuine exchange. Here, monumental concrete halls meet legendary acoustic rooms. From vast, raw exhibition spaces to the intimate precision of Saal 1, 2 & 4, Funkhaus creates a rare contrast between scale and focus, within a site that shaped decades of world history.
